Greek Meatballs#20

I chose this video as I thought it was "chuckle funny", for its instructional dialogue and its subtitles. Libraries could definitely go down this path with YouTube. YouTube does have a certain reputation for being known for its funny videos, but one does not have to follow suit with that genre.

Instructions on how to join, how to use the catalogue, even the layout of the library(as sometimes we have to move shelves around) the list is plenty.

Discovering Web 2.0 tools#19

I've discovered that yes there are heaps of sites that are all sending out subliminal messages "choose me, choose me". I did look at the sites for events, which once again its an area where I thought the community can search for what's happening in the library or council and in the local area. The librarything site is useful for bookclubs, maybe creating booklists as all our customers/borrowers love booklists.

There weren't any sites that I disliked as each one functions for a purpose. Each organisation has to choose the sites that fits in with their business plan. We definitely are spoilt for choice.
Though the majority are American based sites, is there anything stopping us from creating our own?

Web-based apps.#18

Web-based Apps: They're not just for desktops#18

I've discovered another interesting area, where it got me thinking how customers can access this way, applications. We only have two computers that allow for the public to use as word processors. With introducing this way of using word processing and spreadsheets, on every computer (and its free) customers can access their work and do anything they are able to do with it.

Of course some customers have probably already started to do this option as  there has been a drop in usage for the word processor. Reading the material on this subject did mention that everything has a place in this big wide variety of information, maybe there is an overload, who knows, but one thing is for sure for me is that I'd rather a vast variety of information rather a limited one. Its the human need to always go that one step more.

Why the sunset picture, because tomorrow is another discovery.

Playing around with PBWiki#17

I checked out this PBWiki and again found myself having fun. I added my blog to Australian blogs. Then I added one of my favourite books, which was Pillars of the earth by Ken Follett. I also changed the colour of my font in hot fuschia. All the buttons were enable so I took the initiative. That was quiet fun.Oh I also added my favourite restaurant The European. I like playing on this wiki.
